A UNITED MINISTRIES, INC. PROJECT
The annual James F. Jenkins Pillar of Faith awards luncheon was held on Saturday, April 24, 2010. Seven awards were given jointly by Howard University's School of Divinity and the UCC Friends of Howard. Rev. Dennis Wiley, pastor of Covenant Baptist in DC (which joins the UCC formally next month) received an award on behalf of his late father, Rev. H. Wesley Wiley (Dennis is second from left in the front row); Rev. Barbara Gerlach received an award for her prophetic work on behalf of Colombia (she's front row center) and Ms. Sheila Helgerson, executive director of United Ministries' Earl's Place, was recognized for her pioneering efforts on behalf of men in need of housing and a fresh start (she's second from the right).
